The people were very hard workers. Mr. Garavelli was a stonecutter in Barre, Vermont. Alice Caudle worked in the mill in Concord, North Carolina. Chris Thorsten was an Iron worker in New York, New York, he worked on many buildings. Jim Cole is an African-American who works in the BeefKill section of the packing house in Chicago, Illinois. Irving Fajans was an employee in the Macy's department store In New York, New York during Christmas time. All of these people took a lot of pride in their work and went through good and bad times on the job.

Jesse Owens (negro) was interviewed in Macon County on April 22, 1939. He was interviewed by Rhussus L. Perry, Writer and told about his childhood and rise to fame. He was an Olympic winner at the time and was the "Fastest man in the world". He was very successful with his running through out his life and told much about the in more detail in the interview. Crawford Ellis was shipped to Nicaragua in 1893 on a Norweigian steamship from Selma, Alabama. Once in Nicaragua, he took a job with United Fruit Company for twelve dollars a month. His name was becoming known and soon in 1899, he became one of three vice Presidents of the United Fruit Company. He also organized the Pan American Insurance Company and named himself president. He became a thriving business man.
